ABOUT NIA
Nia Foundation, founded by Mrs. Zemi Yenus, is a non-political, non-religious, and non-profit indigenous NGO. Re-registered under license number 0854, the Foundation has been dedicated for the past 24 years to providing social and psychological rehabilitation and educational opportunities for children with autism and related developmental disorders.
In addition, Nia Foundation works to empower women and youth facing various economic, social, and psychological challenges.
Project Overview
In collaboration with the Gidabo Policy Center, Nia Foundation is currently implementing a project titled:
“Enhancing Holistic Rehabilitation and Promoting Autism-Friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Approaches.”

Key Achievements of the Project
As part of this initiative, the following milestones have been successfully achieved:
Completion of a Home-Based and Community-Based Autism Service Manual, designed to make services more accessible to families
Finalization of a Sexual and Reproductive Health Resource Manual for professionals working with children and youth who have autism and related developmental disorders
Purpose of the National Event
The event aims to officially launch both manuals and to facilitate a consultative discussion on the necessity of establishing a National Autism Society of Ethiopia.
Organizations currently active in the autism and disability sector will participate, with the goal of reaching a collective decision to move forward with the society’s formation.
